Today we will present another material available under the brand name G-Flake®. It is called graphene paste, which is a highly concentrated water suspension of graphene oxide flakes. Such paste provides all the advantages of graphene oxide (including the ability to functionalize GO flakes and impart properties correlated with specific applications). It mixes well with other water-based solutions and delivers a concentrated dose of GO at the site of application. An additional advantage is the possibility to adjust the concentration of such paste, which can be important for selected applications.
Where can such paste be used? Among other areas, in cosmetology. It is worth noting that this is a very attractive path for future commercialization of graphene-related materials, which, when added to cosmetics, can impart several unique characteristics, such as UV radiation shielding.
In the Flake Graphene Research Group at Łukasiewicz – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics, we also use such paste as a material for creating flexible coatings on various materials, including polymers, composites, metal foils, etc. We have the ability to adjust the thickness of such layer and the degree of oxidation, which enables the design of product properties in a fully controlled manner. After elimination of oxygen-based functional groups from the surface of GO, it is possible to obtain a material suitable for applications in electronics.
